Miami Lakes Continues to be Recognized for its Tree Canopy

Miami Lakes Continues to be Recognized for its Tree Canopy

December 19, 2024

The Arbor Day Foundation named Miami Lakes a 2024 Tree City USA in honor of its commitment to plant, grow, and maintain trees to benefit its community. Miami Lakes has received Tree City USA status for 18 consecutive years.

The Tree City USA program has been greening up cities and towns across America since 1976. It is a nationwide movement that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their public trees. To earn Tree City USA recognition, a city must uphold four core standards including maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and participating in an Arbor Day celebration.

This recognition as a Tree City USA community is a testament to the Town’s commitment to environmental stewardship and maintaining the lush, arbor canopy that sets Miami Lakes apart, said Jeremy Bajdaun, Director of Parks & Recreation.
