Created by Audrey Lynn Amadeo, Spectrum Dance Therapy combines the structured program of Autism Movement Therapy® with music therapy, social relational therapy, and applied behavior analysis. This approach allows children on the spectrum to exercise their “whole-brain” to improve communication, confidence, and independence. The Special Needs Advisory Board is proud to host this program in Miami Lakes to further its mission to create a model town for inclusion. Along with Spectrum Dance Therapy, the Board has worked with the Miami Dade Police Department – Miami Lakes to create a voluntary special needs safety program to improve community relations between first responders and people with special needs. The Special Needs Advisory Board website also features a social services directory for persons with special needs.
