2024 General Election Runoff

A runoff election for the Town Mayoral seat will take place on November 26. Voters assigned to Precinct 307 (Miami Lakes United Methodist Church, 14800 Ludlam Rd) will be temporarily assigned to vote at Precinct 308 (Miami Lakes K-8 Center, 14250 NW 67 Ave) for the November 26 runoff election. Sports Hall of Fame Committee Announces Class of 2023 Inductees

Miami Lakes, FL – The Miami Lakes Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce the individuals who will be inducted into the Town’s Hall of Fame as the Class of 2023. This year’s inductees include former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Bill Arnsparger, former NFL defensive back Samari Rolle, former MLB player Adrian Cardenas, and local coach and community builder Jose Enriquez.

Bill Arnsparger

Bill Arnsparger was a former NCAA and NFL coach having made stops at Miami of Ohio, Ohio State, Kentucky, Tulane, LSU as well as roles in the NFL with the Baltimore Colts, Miami Dolphins and New York Giants. He was a member of the coaching staff of the 1972 and 1973 Super Bowl Championship teams. He was born in Paris, Ky in 1926 and deceased in 2015. Arnsparger resided in Miami Lakes and his kids played at the Optimist Club and he was an avid  supporter of the programs there.

Samari Rolle

Samari Rolle was a NFL defensive back who starred at Miami Beach High School after being a multi-sport star at Miami Lakes Optimist (football and basketball). He played his college football at Florida State after being named Super Prep Defensive Player of the Year. He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 1998 in the second round of the NFL draft. He went on to have a Pro Bowl career. He would play for the Baltimore Ravens before retiring in 2009

Adrian Cardenas

Adrian Cardenas was a Major League Baseball player having played in the organizations of the Philadelphia Phillies, who drafted him in the first round out of Monsignor Pace High School in 2006, Oakland Athletics and lastly the Chicago Cubs, with whom he made his Major League Debut. He played for years in the Miami Lakes Optimist Park. He retired from baseball in 2012, later enrolling at New York University, where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in 2018.

Jose Enriquez

Jose Enriquez as a Community Builder. Mr. Enriquez has been a resident of the Town for 45 years and was the first soccer coach at Hialeah Miami Lakes High School from 1971 until 1981. He was the first coach to win both the Greater Miami Athletic Conference (GMAC) and State Championship in the same year (1978). He moved into an administrative role in 1981, before he became the first principal of Jose Marti Middle School in 1987 before retiring in 2000.

The four inductees were selected by the Sports Hall of Fame Committee and approved unanimously by the Town Council at the September Council meeting.
