Will the Town plant trees on the right-of-way of my home?

Yes, in most cases, assuming that there is adequate room to do so. The predominant tree species of your street, as determined by Public Service Department personnel, will be planted as a Town service at no charge. Residents are prohibited from planting anything on the right-of-way without the proper authorization and permitting through a landscape encroachment review process.

Does the Town prohibit the pruning of tree roots from Town trees that cross over onto private property?

No. Residents may prune tree roots that are on private property. The Town does not provide this service. Residents are cautioned that any root pruning has the potential for being injurious to the trees they support; therefore caution should be taken when performing these activities. Roots on the public right-of-way may not be cut by residents. The Town may prune these roots from time to time in accordance with its needs.

Will the Town resod the Town parkway (swale) in front of my home with grass?

No. The Town does not provide this service. The Town will repair damage that is caused by its activities such as street paving or utility installation.

Will the Town mow the grass in front of my home?

No.

Can the Town or its residents cut the roots of trees on the right-of-way?

The Town may prune the roots of trees in accordance with its needs. Residents may not prune roots that are within the swale area.

Will the Town fill up the hole on the swale area that is left by trash removal operations?

Call the Solid Waste Collection Division at 305-514-6627, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday, in order to report the situation or contact 311.

May residents enter into a contract with a private contractor for the pruning of Town trees?

No. Residents should call the Town at 305-364-6100 in order to request an inspection and possible scheduling of trimming work by a Town directed contractor.

May I contract for any work on the public right-of-way without a permit?

No. A Public Works Department permit is required for any work on the right-of-way. Please contact the building department at 305-827-4015.

What are my service days for garbage, trash and recyclable collection?

How do I dispose of used tires?

Leave them with the auto shop where you buy the new tires or contact Miami Dade County Public Works and Waste Management at 305-514-6627 for a special pickup.

How do I set up a waste collection account for my office building or multifamily residential units?
