Breaking Barriers: Miami Lakes Reinvents Special Needs Safety Program to Empower and Protect Residents

Miami Lakes, F.L. –The Town of Miami Lakes, in partnership with the Special Needs Advisory Board (SNAB), is proud to unveil the reimagined Special Needs Safety Needs Program. This program is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering and safeguarding its residents of all ages and backgrounds—including children, adults, seniors, and veterans—living with any type of special needs.

The change in name represents our continued commitment towards being a model town for inclusion while keeping our families safe. SNAB aims to promote inclusivity, awareness, and accessibility throughout the community. Our safety program emphasizes this commitment and maintains its core objectives: to provide critical information and support to local law enforcement when responding to calls involving individuals in the program, ensuring preparedness and appropriate responses during potential emergency situations.

By maintaining a comprehensive database of registered individuals with special needs, the Safety Program equips the Miami Lakes Police Department with essential details to ensure their interactions are informed, respectful, and tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

For information on the Special Needs Advisory Board, its initiatives, workshops, and more, please contact Gabriella  Escobar at escobarg@miamilakes-fl.gov or by visiting miamilakes-fl.gov/snab.
