The mission of the Special Needs Advisory Board is to create a model town for inclusion, by identifying specific Miami Lakes families with an interest in matters pertaining to individuals with special needs; connecting them to existing programs, services and events; and, serving the Town Council in an advisory capacity to identify unmet needs and assist with the discovery of possible solutions. Special Needs Safety Program Launches in Miami Lakes
Miami Lakes, FL – To better serve those with special needs in the community, the Town of Miami Lakes has launched the Special Needs Safety Program. The program is voluntary and open to all Miami Lakes residents with special needs due to mental or neurological disabilities.
The Special Needs Safety Program is a collaboration between the Town of Miami Lakes its Special Needs Advisory Board and Miami Dade County Police Department Miami Lakes Division.
The participant information provided will be utilized by law enforcement during times of emergency or during an interaction with law enforcement. The goal of the Special Needs Safety Program to ensure all Miami Lakes residents who have Special Needs can get the help and support they need.
Residents registered with the program will be issued window decals to be placed prominently on the front entrance of their residence. The presence of the decal should signify that someone in the residence has some degree of special need and law enforcement should respond accordingly.
To register for the Special Needs Safety Program, complete the application form and place it in a sealed envelope. Forms can be dropped off or mailed to Town Hall Miami Lakes Police Division Office, Attention Officer Robin Amador (6601 Main Street, Miami Lakes, FL 33014), or emailed to ramador@mdpd.com. You may also schedule a time for the Application Form to be picked up by calling 305-827-4020.
