Fourth of July Celebration Introduces First-Ever Sensory Inclusive Zone

Fourth of July Celebration Introduces First-Ever Sensory Inclusive Zone

June 22, 2023

Miami Lakes, FL – In preparation for this year’s Fourth of July Celebration—taking place July 4, 2023 and beginning at 6:30 p.m.—the Special Needs Advisory Board is thrilled to announce the introduction of the first Sensory Inclusive Zone for the event.

This addition also reflects the Town’s Special Needs Advisory Board’s unwavering dedication to inclusivity and fostering a sense of belonging for all residents. By introducing the Sensory Inclusive Zone, we aim to eliminate barriers that prevent individuals with special needs from participating in the rich tapestry of community events.

Sponsored by the Special Needs Advisory Board, the Sensory Inclusive Zone provides a calm and comfortable environment where individuals of all ages and abilities can relax and recharge with reduced noise levels, dimmed lighting, access to entertainment and toys, with the first 25 individuals receiving free noise reducing headphones. The Sensory Inclusive Zone will occupy Rooms 1 & 2 at the Mary Collins Community Center.
