The Mental Health Task Force is dedicated to navigating mental health discussion and issues facing Miami Lakers.

MEETING SCHEDULE: The Mental Health Task Force meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m., subject to change. Meetings are held in Town Hall (6601 Main Street) in the Community Conference Room, Room 106.

MEMBERSHIP: The Mental Health Task Force shall be comprised of seven (7) members, in which each member of the Town Council shall nominate and appoint one (1) individual. Members shall be representative of the mental health care community, including mental health professionals, social services providers, or experts in the mental health field.

Disaster Distress Helpline Call 1-800-985-5990 or text TalkWithUs to 66746.The Disaster Distress Helpline (DDH) provides crisis counseling and support for anyone in the U.S. experiencing distress or other behavioral health concerns related to any natural or human-caused disaster, including public health emergencies.

CHI Community Health of South Florida For Adults: CSU is a 16-bed unit for the most severe cases of mental illness and substance abuse. CSU staff works with the individual as well as family and other care providers within the behavioral health and external agencies. CHI is a Baker Act-receiving facility for those with mental health disorders who meet all the criteria for voluntary and involuntary admissions. The CSU is a short-term acute psychiatric receiving facility, open seven days a week and 24 hours each day at the Doris Ison Health Center located at 10300 SW 216th Street, Miami Fl 33190

The National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline Call 800.656.HOPE (4673) to be connected with a trained staff member from a sexual assault service provider in your area.

New Horizons Community Mental Health Center Assist patients who present with an emergency or crisis via screening, evaluation, and referral to a Baker Act receiving facility or hospital. CIS is available on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at our main location, which is 1469 NW 36 Street, Miami, Florida 33142. CIS is only available by telephone after normal business hours 7 days a week at 305.635.7444.

Citrus Health Network The Children’s Crisis Stabilization Unit (CCSU), which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to receive adolescents in crisis or in need of emergency assessment services. The unit, which is a Baker Act receiving facility, provides brief, intensive services with the goal of examining and stabilizing the adolescent, and directing them to the best setting for their needs.
