Town to Hold Special Election to Fill Council Vacancy

Miami Lakes, FL – The Town of Miami Lakes is holding a Special Election to fill the vacancy of Seat 6 to the Town Council.

On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, residents may cast their votes at the polls during the Special Election to fill the vacant Seat 6 to the Council following the resignation of former Vice Mayor Carlos O. Alvarez. The elected candidate will serve out the remainder of the Seat 6 term, until November 2026.

Candidate qualifying for this election will begin at 12 p.m. noon on Monday, February 5 and end at 12 p.m. noon on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Find more information on qualifying, including necessary documents, here.

On April 9, polls will open at 7 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. Find your designated voting precinct, visit miamilakes-fl.gov/vote.

Since its incorporation, the Town of Miami Lakes operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The Council-Manager system combines the strong leadership of elected officials with the strong managerial experience of an appointed Town Manager.
