Miami Lakes Youth Center to Begin Hosting Open Play Program

Miami Lakes, FL – The Parks and Recreation Department and its team is excited to announce the launch of a new, free open play membership program for children ages 5 to 13 at the Miami Lakes Youth Center (“Youth Center”), commonly known as The Spot, starting Monday, July 1.

Taking place from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays this initiative aims to promote social interaction, teamwork, and enjoyment among young participants. Daily activities are scheduled within the operational hours, tailored to cater to different age groups and skill levels, ensuring appropriate and engaging activities for all members.

Membership Benefits:

  • Full access to facility amenities, including:
    • Ping pong
    • Air hockey
    • Pop-a-Shot basketball
    • Foosball
    • Board games
    • And more engaging activities
  • Supervised activities led by trained staff to ensure safety and engagement.
  • Opportunities for children to develop physical skills, socialize, and enjoy structured play.

Safety and Supervision:

All programs are supervised by qualified staff members trained in child supervision and first aid, with strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure environment. Parents are required to stay within the Youth Center premises during their child’s participation.

Enrollment Process:

  1. Registration: Parents or guardians can create an account for themselves and their children at miamilakes-fl.gov/thespot.
  2. Membership Activation: Upon registration, children can be signed up for the free membership in person at the Miami Lakes Youth Center (6075 Miami Lakes Dr).
  3. Attendance: Children can attend during the operational hours by presenting their membership card/number or their name at check-in. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
