Did you know in the past six years identity thieves have stolen over $107 billion from US consumers?
The Town of Miami Lakes and its Public Safety Committee will be hosting an Identity Theft Prevention Workshop on Tuesday, April 25 in Town Hall Council Chambers. The workshop includes an opportunity for residents to bring in their confidential documents for on-site shredding provided by A Shred Ahead from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Starting at 7:30 pm, a panel of experts from Miami-Dade Police Economic Crimes Division and the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office will discuss what financial information should be protected, how to protect yourself from identity theft and fraud, and what to do if you become a victim.
Attendees may bring up to five (5) banker-sized boxes (15”x12”x10”) of confidential documents for on-site shredding, such as old financial statements, canceled checks, credit card offers, and other outdated documents containing personal information.
