Grants works in partnership with Departments and Offices to research, compose, edit, and submit Federal, State, Local, and Foundation funding opportunities to support the goals and objectives of the 2025 Strategic Plan.

Additional functions include:

  • Serve as Town liaison to grant funding organizations to ensure effective communication throughout the grant process.
  • Assist Departments and Offices to execute grant contracts and agreements.
  • Provide technical and grant administration support to Departments and Offices.
  • Ensure Project Managers maintain fiscal and performance oversight of grant funded programs, projects, and services.
  • Provide grant related informational support to the Finance Department to establish and manage fiscal accounts.
  • Provide grant related informational support to Procurement for competitive bids and continuing services contracts.
  • Compose and submit applicable progress, expenditure, desk monitoring, and close-out grant reporting requirements.
  • Assist the Town Manager’s Office with completing legislative appropriation requests to acquire discretionary funding for capital projects.

  • Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant- Countywide (JAGC) for the Town's School Resource Officer Project (OT) in amount of $4,419.
  • Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant for the Miami Lakes GREEN 2.0 Project in the amount of $541,494 to construct bike lanes and a landscaped path along NW 146th Street between NW 89th Avenue and NW 87th Avenue
  • Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Highway Beautification Grant for the SR 826/NW 154th Street Landscape and Hardscape Improvements Project in the amount of $100,000 
  • Edward Byrne Justice Assistance Grant – Direct (2017-JAGD-1913) for the Town’s School Resource Officer Project in the amount of $4,838
  • Street Tree Matching /Neat Streets Miami Grant for the Miami Lakes West Lakes Reforestation Project Phase I in the amount of $15,000
  • General Appropriations for the Miami Lakes Canal Bank Stabilization of Drainage Canal - Phase II, in the amount of $1,000,000.
  • Saris Bike Parking Giveaway-Bike Parking Facilities for Royal Oaks Park Community Center ($800 value)
  • Transportation Alternatives Program - Miami Lakes NW 59th Avenue Transportation Improvements Project - $1,000,000
  • Transportation Alternatives Program - Miami Lakes NW 79th Court Transportation Improvements Project – $1,000,000

The Town of Miami Lakes continues to embody its motto: "Growing Beautifully." Nurturing its commitment to green living, the Town of Miami Lakes operates the Miami Lakes Moover on one route throughout town! This FREE bus operates as a fixed-route circulator providing connections to existing Metrobus stops and Metrorail, via the Ludlam Limited Route, with a terminal point at Main Street. The Miami Lakes Moover runs Monday through Friday during peak morning (6:00-10:40AM) and peak evening (2:30-7:00PM). Buses arrive approximately every 30 minutes.

Track the Miami Lakes Moovers!

Miami Lakes Moover riders can now track the Moovers in real-time from your computer! Click here to access the online tracking portal to see where the Moovers are and when they'll arrive at your location.

iPhone and Android smartphone users can now track the Moovers from your phones! The smartphone app is available for download on both platforms. The Moover tracking app features a real-time map, a list of stop locations, and service updates. To download search for "TSO Miami Lakes Trolley".

Riders can also call or text to receive real-time arrival information for the Moovers. You can call (305) 771-0690 and enter the stop number when prompted or text "Moover (stop#)" (Example: Moover 101) to 41411 to receive information about when the next Moover will arrive at your stop.

Moover Bus Amenities

To accommodate all passengers, each circulator is equipped with bike racks, flip seats, and ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps. In a concerted effort to improve quality of life in the Town, this service will minimize traffic congestion and commute times and improve mobility.

Freebee In The Lakes

In addition to the Town's Moover service, the Town also offers Freebee in the Lakes, a new on-demand ride-sharing service. The on-demand service operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm and Sunday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. To request a ride, customers can download the free app available on iPhones and Android devices; flag down a Freebee vehicle; or use the call ahead reservation system at (305) 901-9500. Rides are free for all passengers. 

Spin Bike-Share Program

Spin is a bike-share company that operates a station-less bicycle-sharing system in Miami Lakes. The Spin bicycles are orange-colored bikes equipped with onboard GPS units and cellular modems. Rides cost $1 for every 30 minutes.  The Spin bicycles are station-less and can be parked anywhere within the city at designated landscape/furniture zones on sidewalks. Spin bicycles should be parked in an orderly fashion curbed on public sidewalks at least six feet wide and at/or near bike racks and bike corrals. Bicycles should not be placed in areas that are obstructing pedestrian/motor vehicle traffic or on private property. Spin users and the general public can report bikes obstructing the public right of way 24/7 via the website or the app. To ride Spin, you can download the free app avialable on iPhone and Android devices.

SFCS  is a one-stop shop for commuter information for programs and services in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, and St. Lucie counties. The program is dedicated to improving traffic conditions by promoting alternatives to drive-alone commuting.
