K-9 Cove: Dog Recreation Area Coming Soon

Miami Lakes, FL -Miami Lakes canines and their owners have been eagerly wagging their tails awaiting the opening of the planned Miami Lakes off-leash dog recreation area. The Town of Miami Lakes is pleased to announce the official name for the Dog Recreation Area: K-9 Cove. In anticipation of the opening, the Town sponsored a contest to select a name for the new recreation area and K-9 cove was selected by a group of Town residents supporting the dog recreation area’s efforts from over 50 submissions.

K-9 Cove will be located at 14048 Palmetto Frontage Rd (NW 77 CT) and is scheduled to open in early 2017. K-9 Cove will feature both a passive recreational area and two separate fenced areas for smaller and larger dogs. The area will include benches, drinking fountains for the dogs and a joint open air shelter for use by pet owners. In addition, the site incorporates a portion of the proposed 10’ wide bike trail along the south side of Palmetto Frontage Road. Future planned improvements include a parking lot.
