Town Offers Skill Development Programs for Youth

Miami Lakes, FL -The Town of Miami Lakes’ popular youth programs held at Miami Lakes Picnic Park West, Just Run® and Start Smart are back for the fall and still have a few spots available!

The Just Run® Miami Lakes Program, in its 6th year, is a free, fun program that promotes fitness, healthy eating, good citizenship, and pride in accomplishment. The program is open to children ages 5 through 14. The Just Run® Miami Lakes Program will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm and will run through April.

The Start Smart Sports Development Program, developed by the National Alliance for Youth Sports, aims to help prepare children ages 3 to 5 years old for organized youth sports by using safe and fun equipment while developing basic motor skills. The 6-week program will run from throughout the month of September, and helps parents work one-on-one with their children while teaching them the basics of sports like throwing, catching, kicking, and batting. Classes will be held for 6 consecutive Wednesdays from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Parents must attend each session with their child.

Registration is required and can be done entirely online at www.miamilakes-fl.gov/recprograms

For more information about the Town’s recreation programming, please contact Recreation Program Coordinator Kristina Labossiere at LabossiereK@miamilakes-fl.gov or 305-698-9308.
