Miami Lakes, FL - At the May Council meeting, the Town Council unanimously approved R.A.M.P. It Up. An initiative of Councilmen Nelson Rodriguez and Tony Lama, R.A.M.P stands for Rescue, Allergies, Medications, and Past medical history. For years, fire rescue personnel have encouraged patients - especially senior citizens and their families, to have vital medical information written down in anticipation of an emergency. R.A.M.P. is a great way to transfer information to First Responders. At the August meeting of the Town’s Elderly Affairs Committee, Councilman Rodriguez introduced the form to the group.
“As a Firefighter-Paramedic for 28 years my experience shows that time is of the essence when responding to medical emergencies at home. Having medical history information nearby will save time in providing you proper care,” said Councilman Rodriguez.
The idea for R.A.M.P. It Up came from Chief Abel Fernandez, a local Firefighter Paramedic and Town Resident.
