MIAMI LAKES, Florida, April 20, 2016 – At the March 16th Special Call Meeting, the Town Council voted to conduct a mail-in ballot for the amendments proposed by the Charter Revision Commission (CRC). The Charter is the Town’s constitution which establishes the Town’s form of government, the size of the council, the powers and duties of its governing body, and provides for methods of election and Charter-enumerated officers.
The Special Election ballots will be mailed by the County on April 27, 2016 and must be received by May 17th by mail through the U.S. Postal Service in the postage-paid mailing envelope that will be provided. You may also return your ballot in person to the Miami Dade County Elections Department at 2700 NW 87th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33172 no later than 7pm on May 17th.
A Voter’s Guide has been created for informational purposes to prove objective, impartial explanations of the ten ballot questions so that the Town’s voters may, in casting their votes, be better informed and comfortable with the Town issues presented in the mail-ballot. The explanation(s) in the Guide are intended to provide general information only, and does not in any way represent official Town endorsement for or against the proposed Charter amendments.
Members of the public seeking further information may contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 305-364-6100.
This Voter’s Guide will be mailed to residents prior to the election ballots and available online at www.miamilakes-fl.gov/votersguide
