Mayor Calls For Emergency Special Call Meeting To Protest
Closing Of Opa-Locka Airport Flight Tower

Miami Lakes, FL - At a press conference on Friday afternoon, Mayor Michael Pizzi made the announcement that the Federal Aviation Administration will maintain the Opa-Locka flight tower open. Mayor Michael Pizzi visited the FAA last week, and met with David Grizzle, Chief Operating Officer of the Air Traffic Organization and voiced his concerns and those of the residents of the Town of Miami Lakes. The Opa-Locka flight tower handles 500 flights per day that fly over Miami Lakes.

“Thanks to the unyielding efforts of the citizens of the Town of Miami Lakes and surrounding areas, who sent countless emails and letters, the Opa-Locka flight tower is one of 24 flight towers that will remain open,” said Mayor Pizzi.
