Miami Lakes, FL -At the April Council meeting, in a unanimous decision, the Town Council authorized the Town Manager and Town Attorney to accept the donation of the 30-acre parcel known as the “Par 3 Golf Course” property from the Graham Companies. Par 3, located on the east side of the Palmetto Expressway and south of Northwest 154th Street in Miami Lakes, will be developed as a passive park to include walking and bike paths.
A motion made by Councilman Frank Mingo, the Town Council passed and adopted a resolution to establish a committee to evaluate the acquisition of and best utilization for the Par 3 in November 2013. Over the course of seven meetings, the Par 3 Committee discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the Town’s acquisition of the Par 3 and the best method of utilizing the property if it is acquired with Town Staff, Graham Companies and Florida Power & Light.
“I want to thank the Par 3 Committee for all their efforts, positive input and hard work during the committee meetings,” Councilman Mingo said. “I agree with the consensus reached by them, that the acquisition of this Golf course should only be used for a passive park."
