Town Presents Certificate of Excellence to Youth Volunteer

Miami Lakes, FL - Mayor Wayne Slaton and the Town Council presented a certificate of excellence to young resident Christina Delgado, a Miami Lakes K-8 Center student, at the Jan. 13 Town Council meeting for her exceptional volunteer service.

For more than three years, Christina has been a member of the Town of Miami Lakes Youth Activities Task Force and is the current Vice-Chair of the committee. She has volunteered hundreds of hours of her time to events hosted by the Youth Activities Task Force and other local causes.

In recognition of her passion for service, Christina was recently awarded the national President’s Volunteer Service Award granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of President Barack Obama.

“We are very proud of Christina’s dedication and passion for service," Mayor Wayne Slaton said. "She is a great example for other young students who are looking to get involved and give back to their local community."
