Miami Lakes, FL - The Town of Miami Lakes has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States for its comprehensive annual financial report for FY 2012-2013. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government, its staff and management.
"Thank you to the Government Finance Officers Association for this prestigious recognition,” Mayor Wayne Slaton said. “This award is a testament of our Town’s commitment to excellence in financial reporting and transparency.”
During the 2013 fiscal year, Town of Miami Lakes received several awards and acknowledgements. The Town was honored as an All-America City Finalist, named a Tree City USA for the seventh consecutive year, recognized as a Playful City USA for the fifth consecutive year, and named one of the “100 Best Communities for Young People” by America’s Promise Alliance.
The comprehensive annual financial report has been judged to meet the highest standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the comprehensive annual financial report. The Mayor, Town Council and Town Administration take pride in our continued efforts to increase transparency.
