Miami Lakes, FL - On November 22, the Miami Lakes Town Council along with several volunteers and representatives from Loving Soles celebrated the collection of more than 1,500 pairs of shoes for this year’s Thanksgiving Shoe Drive.
For the second year in a row, the Town partnered with Loving Soles, founded by Tony Garcia, Dr. Daryl Gershbein, Dr. John McGoohan, and Ileana McGoohan's teenage children, who donated all the gently worn shoes collected to Miami’s homeless through the Camillus House.
“I am overwhelmed by the support from our community. We beat last year’s goal by over 1,100 pairs of shoes. I want to thank my colleagues, local schools and businesses that came together to make this happen," said Councilman Tony Lama, who has spearheaded the event over the years.
The Town of Miami Lakes greatly thanks all those who donated shoes for those in need.
