Town and State Designate NW 77th Avenue as Wellness Way

Miami Lakes, FL -  The Town of Miami Lakes and the State of Florida on Oct. 17 co-designated Northwest 77th Avenue, the roadway adjacent to the Palmetto Expressway, and hub to many health-related facilities and businesses, “Wellness Way”. More than 50 people, including representatives from several of the health-related businesses, attended the unveiling event to show their support.

"Over the years, Northwest 77th Avenue has become a premier location for companies looking to establish a strong presence in Northwest Miami-Dade,” Mayor Wayne Slaton said. “Many of these companies are in the health care industry and the “Wellness Way” co-designation is a great way to showcase their presence along this important roadway.”

While Councilman Nelson Rodriguez initiated the roadway name designation, this was a joint effort of the Town and State completed during the last Legislative Session.

“The idea of Wellness Way came from two issues,” Councilman Nelson Rodriguez said. “One being the large amount of health-related businesses in the area and the second was that Northwest 77th Ave. needed a roadway name in addition to a numbered name, as most of the Town’s Eastside roads do.”
