Town Receives Grant to Beautify Intersection at Miami Lakes Drive and 826

Miami Lakes, FL -  The Town of Miami Lakes was recently awarded $100,000 grant from the Florida Department of Transportation Beautification Council for a highway beautification project along the highly-travelled section of State Road 826, trailing northbound from Miami Lakes Drive. As a community with numerous elevated expressways passing along its boundaries, the issue of how to address the unsightly appearance of underpasses is of significant concern to the Town and its residents. These locations serve as gateways into our Town and are the first impression of the community for many visitors. This cost-effective project will leverage $100,000 of match funding to transform an area with maximum visibility and a high volume of traffic passing the area on a daily basis. This project will also include improvement to the underpass along 154th street.

"As your elected officials, the Council prioritizes initiatives and provides direction to the Town Manager based on your needs and direct input. The residents of Miami Lakes have been clear that a renewed focus on beautification initiatives was desired," said Councilman Tony Lama. "I want to thank our Town Manager and staff for their great work in securing this grant. Very soon, we will all see these improvements come to fruition."
