243px-All-America City Logo On Friday, February 21, Town of Miami Lakes Mayor Wayne Slaton threw the first pitch of the Miami Lakes Optimist Baseball Season. Mayor Slaton recognized Optimist Club President, Luis Arrojas, Vice President of Baseball Elbert Alfaro, as well as the Baseball Commissioners for their efforts and dedication to the program. With over 45 teams and over 550 children registered for baseball and softball, this season is off to a great start!

Miami Lakes, FL - On Friday, February 21, Town of Miami Lakes Mayor Wayne Slaton threw the first pitch of the Miami Lakes Optimist Baseball Season. Mayor Slaton recognized Optimist Club President, Luis Arrojas, Vice President of Baseball Elbert Alfaro, as well as the Baseball Commissioners for their efforts and dedication to the program. With over 45 teams and over 550 children registered for baseball and softball, this season is off to a great start!

"On behalf of the Town of Miami Lakes, I congratulate all of the Miami Lakes Optimist Club leaders, coaches and parents for their efforts to provide quality programming for our youth," said Mayor Wayne Slaton. "Best of luck to all of the teams this baseball season and look forward to some great games!"

A volunteer-based organization, the Optimist Club of Miami Lakes Club in partnership with the Town has assisted in the development of our youth through quality sports and educational programs since 1969; fostering a foundation of strong, civic minded citizenry within our community. This strong relationship and dual commitment to the children has enabled us to provide successful programs year after year.
