Madden's Hammock Artifacts Unveiling Event At Town Hall

Miami Lakes, FL -  The Town of Miami Lakes will formally unveil the display case containing artifacts originally excavated from the Madden's Hammock  archeological site. Vice Mayor Manny Cid spearheaded this initiative, requesting the University of Florida's Museum of Natural History to return some of the artifacts back to Miami Lakes. "The artifact exhibit will connect the past with our modern day Town," stated Vice Mayor Manny Cid. "Understanding the rich history of Madden's Hammock is vital to its long-term preservation."

With a donation of $2,500 from longtime Miami Lakes' resident Tirso Martinez and his family, the Town was able to purchase the display case. The unveiling will take place on Tuesday, January 22nd at 4:30pm at Town Hall. Bring the family and learn about Miami Lakes' history - the roles this area played, its importance to so many people over such a long period of time.

Robert Carr, co-founder of the Archaeological and Historical Conservancy and one of the original archeologists involved in the Madden's Hammock excavation will provide a presentation on the artifacts and site.
