Local High Schools Receive Top Scores

Miami Lakes, FL -  School grades for all Miami-Dade and Broward County High Schools were released on December 18th. The Town of Miami Lakes would like to congratulate the Miami Lakes Educational Center for achieving an "A" rating once again; Barbara Goleman Senior High School rating improved, receiving a "B"; and a vast improvement from Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High achieving its first "A" rating. This is a result of the commitment and hard work put forth by the teachers, administration, parents and of course, the students.

"Supporting our local schools is a top priority. The Town has always been a partner to the schools by helping them with tutoring funds. I'm very proud of all the hard work the Teachers and Students have done to make theses grade changes," said Councilman Nelson Rodriguez. The Town continues to support our local schools through the Education Advisory Board. At the final budget hearing for FY 13-14, the Town Council approved $22,500 to fund FCAT Tutoring for our six local schools.

Highlighting the economic development aspects of well-rated schools, "The education of our children is paramount. But what many don't realize is that our commitment to our schools and these stellar results contribute to our solid property values and keeping Miami Lakes a highly coveted area to raise your children and locate a business. I am so thankful for the great work of the students, the teachers, and the administrators," said Councilman Tony Lama.
