Major Charles James Selected as Grand Marshall of 34th Annual Veteran's Day Parade
 

Miami Lakes, FL -  The Town of Miami Lakes' Veteran's Day Parade Committee is proud to announce that Major Charles James has been selected to serve as the Grand Marshall for the 33rd Annual Veteran's Day Parade.

Charles H. James is a native of the state of Texas where he played both football and baseball in high school and attended college on a baseball scholarship. Shortly after he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Texas Southern University, he fulfilled his civic duty as an American Citizen and volunteered for service in the United States Army being sworn in as a Second Lieutenant.

He completed more than twenty years of military service which included two tours of duty in Vietnam where he served as a medical administrator. In this capacity, he supervised medical personnel that provided medical care for wounded soldiers. In addition to serving in Vietnam, he served in several Army hospitals during his military career. A noteworthy assignment included being a member of the Manpower Survey Team which was responsible for evaluating military hospitals around the world in order to ensure proper staffing.

After several promotions, he attained the rank of Major and ended his active duty career as a member of the Army Surgeon General's office team at the Pentagon, where it was his responsibility to answer Congressional inquiries for the White House, members of the Senate, and the House of Representatives.

Among the many honors he received while on active duty, he is most proud to have earned the Meritorious Service Medal and the Bronze Star.

He has continued to support his Country by serving as a JROTC instructor in the Miami Dade County Public Schools System for twenty years enriching the lives of our most valuable assets, our youth.

Always willing to give back, Major James has volunteered to serve on the Miami Lakes Cultural Affairs committee and is a member of the board of Main Street Players.

A part-time model and actor, Major James is married to the former Jacqueline Culver.
